A person who takes fishing as a past time to clear
his/her head uses a standard fishing rod, but would it prove helpful for a
fisherman? A person who goes out to the sea in the hope of catching a massive
load of fishes and sells it to earn a livelihood uses a different method.
Fishing nets or traps are tools made from fibers woven in a particular pattern.
Although modernized fish nets are made of nylon, the old ones were made of
fibrous plants. A fisherman needs to go deep in the sea where he/she suspects a
sufficient amount of fish and put a net in the water to catch it.
Types
of Fishing Nets
With the kind of advancements in technology and
research method, how can we not have several nets for different purposes? The
different types of fishing nets available in the market that people find
helpful are as follows;
·
Dip Net: One might find this net in
either triangular, rectangular, or square shape. It has a net set on a frame
and uses a handle for scooping it up from the water. While the smaller dip nets
are operated manually from a boat, the bigger ones are fixed on the shore with
a bamboo stick acting as a lever.
·
Purse Net: As the name suggests, this is
a rectangular-shaped net made of tanned cotton twine with a large mouth. Two
flexible bamboo sticks are hinged from both lips of the mouth at a particular
angle, so the operator can close it as desired. It catches fish migrating
upstream, once it is lowered in the water by ropes.
·
Cast Net: It has a circular shape that
looks more like an umbrella with a rope attached to the apex. The fisherman has
to be careful while throwing the net in the water. He/she should throw it by
holding the rope in one hand and making sure it expands after landing on the
surface of the water. It is a very common method often used for catching most
of the seafood we eat at restaurants.
·
Gill Net: It has a massive wall of net
placed in the water by a fisherman with two ropes attached to it. The head rope
has floaters, while the foo trope has sinkers. This one is cleverly made of
various colors to prevent fishes from detecting it. You can put it in the water
in the evening and take it out in the morning to get the entangled load.
A renowned fishing net manufacturer produces all
types of fishing nets mentioned above to satisfy every fisherman's need.
